The Transformed Mind
It has been said that all Kingdom matters are matters of the heart. We can never overemphasize this truth. The heart in the right state and condition is like a magnet towards heaven; it undeniably attracts God’s attention. In 1 Sam 16, God explicitly warned Samuel not to be hasty in anointing the next king of Israel among the sons of Jesse based on outward appearance. God’s choice is based on what He sees within-the heart. And David was chosen because of his heart. He was anointed as king and from that day forward the Holy Spirit rested on him mightily. This is an awesome story. Let’s remember the principle applies to all.
The heart is in the right state when it is one with the inner workings of the Spirit of God in the spirit of man. This happens when the mind, the will and the emotion of man combined with the spirit of man are in complete submission to the leading and urgings of the Holy Spirit. In contrast, the heart is in dis-alignment when it is under the control of the flesh and therefore limited to what the senses dictate. When this happens our access to the realm of the supernatural shrinks because our choices, level of expectancy and faith will be limited by what we perceive in the physical world.
During the recent ten-day fast of the Destiny Family from Jan 2-11, the Holy Spirit opened my spiritual eyes to see the importance of the renewal of the mind in experiencing and demonstrating the reality of the Kingdom of God in our circumstances on a consistent basis. We can have the right heart attitude of humility, kindness, deep passion for God and gentleness but without the right MINDSET (Kingdom Paradigm) of WHO WE ARE-the way God sees us, we will always operate based on the programmed thought patterns that formed us through years. These thought patterns themselves act as the barriers to our MANIFESTING AS SONS OF GOD. The Hope of Glory Himself is IN US but His glory cannot shine through us fully when our minds remain unrenewed.
Limited thinking leads to limited living
Jesus promised an abundant life- the God-kind of Life. One that’s overflowing, productive, fruitful, life-giving, bringing hope, healing, freedom, transformation and blessings. Abundant life embodies the reality of heaven on earth. This is an awesome promise and it is more than a promise because in the realm of the King this is reality. His Word IS REALITY. When God speaks He creates.
In the Book Proverbs it says that, “as the man thinks in his heart (mind) so is he.” How we think is who we are. The way we “see” things, or perceive them is according to how our minds work. We see things not as they are but as we are. That’s why wrong thinking leads to wrong living. The way we think is molded by our past. And unless we are conscious of this fact and are willing to align our thoughts with heaven we will always live way below the destiny God has for us. Our thoughts could sabotage the faith we declare.
To me one of the greatest hindrances to being able to access our inheritance IN CHRIST is the orphan mentality. The orphan mindset will always view things from the flesh, from performance, striving and fear. And SELF will always be in the center. The sad thing is, religion continues to propagate this MINDSET. No wonder we have forms of godliness without the power of God experienced and expressed.
This is not the will of God for us. We were made to shine with His Glory. And we can only shine when we finally “get” it- that we are indeed sons and daughters of God. Our spirit, soul and body fully convinced without a shadow of doubt that we are the beloved children of God IN CHRIST fully cleansed, bought, accepted, adopted, affirmed, loved and made glorious through the INDWELLING Presence of the Glorious One- Christ IN US, the Hope of Glory. Oh what a LIFE to live!
